Special Edition Rolls-Royce Dawn Unveiled for 2017
Unveiled for 2017, ‘Dawn – Inspired by Fashion’ is a new special edition Rolls-Royce model. It’s not the first time that a car turns to fashion for inspiration. However, the automaker has incorporated aspects in a unique way.
The marque’s third convertible in 45 years is receiving special attention. Its new exterior colour and interior were “hand-picked” from the world of fashion, fine textiles and luxury accessories. The design of the Rolls-Royce Dawn is led by Giles Taylor, Director of Design for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. He is assisted by textile specialist Cherica Haye from the Royal College of Art. Leather technologist Michelle Lusby, previously having worked at Mulberry, also forms part of the team, among others.
Taylor says, “Dawn – Inspired by Fashion beautifully expresses the notion that inspiration for truly personal objects is drawn from the passions, tastes and lifestyle of its patron.” Tactility, quality, and comfort are also important features of the piece itself.
It looks stunningly sleek in its Andalucian White paint. It has a hand-painted coachline, while also matched with three different vibrant colours. The colours set the tone for the 2017 Spring/Summer collection. The design makes use of fine silk elements, unexpected textures and pure colour contrasts. In addition, contrast stitching also appears over the Arctic White and Black leather.
The dashboard is finished in Piano White with aluminium particles. Rolls-Royce says it gives a silk-like appearance and the unique Inspired by Fashion clock sits as a piece of jewellery. The interior also sports a Spirit of Ecstasy emblem on each door.
